ENERGIZING EDUCATION:
Advancing reading skills of elementary students

In-school mentors’ primary job is to assist students in kindergarten through third grade in practicing their literacy skills, with the goal of reaching grade level milestones by the end of the year. Click here for more information.

Fair Housing Center of Southeast & Mid Michigan Civil Rights Tester The FAIR HOUSING CENTER of Southeast & Mid Michigan (FHC) is seeking women and men to assist in the investigation of housing discrimination. Testers pose as home seekers in a variety of housing situations. Testing is conducted as needed; hours are flexible. Attention to detail is a must. The FHC currently needs black, white, African, Latino, Indian, and Asian women and men over the age of 18. The Fair Housing Center is private nonprofit agency that provides investigative services (testing), advice, advocacy, conciliation, attorney referrals, and community education. Federal, State, and local laws prohibit housing discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, disability, marital status, age, sexual orientation, source of income, and student/non-student status. Youth Haven Ranch Grounds Work Looking for volunteers interested in helping keep our 400 acres of land maintained. Looking for organizations, groups or individuals who can mow, cut weeds, spread mulch, rake leaves, etc. Background check is required. Stephanie Ludwig 517-569-3328 Tue-Sat
Youth Haven Ranch Housekeeping Looking for volunteers interested in helping keep our Family Ministries building clean. This building is used by groups, churches, organizations and businesses for conferences, seminars, retreats, etc. Tasks include dusting, vacuuming, making beads, cleaning restrooms, etc. Volunteer would be under the supervision of our full time housekeeper. Lily Missions Center After School Mentor Volunteers needed to help students in our after school program. Volunteers would assist with assignment completion and work on areas of need in reading and math. May also be assisting kids in computer education, language education and other various activities. Jackson Symphony Orchestra Office Volunteer Looking for a cheerful volunteer to answer phones, take messages, label mailings, etc. Some days are busier than others so schedule is flexible. Background check required. Joan Cummings 517-782-3221

Jackson Friendly Home Craft Helpers Looking for craft volunteers to make some fun projects with our ladies. They would love to be taught how to make something to display in their room. Volunteers can help with crafts we have planned or bring ideas of their own. Some residents have limitations so please keep crafts simple and easy to do. Schedule is very flexible. Jackson Friendly Home Musical Entertainment We are looking for energetic volunteers who can share their love of music with our residents. Any type of instrument is welcome including singing. Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteers Looking for volunteers to assist with local blood drives. Volunteers assist with registering blood donors for their donations and help in the canteen area. Volunteers also assist with setting up and tearing down the blood drive. Our schedule changes every month based on site. Orientation and background check required. Schedule is very flexible. Jackson County Department of Human Services Volunteer Transporter Volunteer will provide transportation to DHS customers with medical appointments or visitation appointments between parents and their children when other alternatives are not available. The volunteer will be expected to coordinate with case worker and families based on information received from case workers. DHS will reimburse the volunteer for mileage expenses and meals based on timing of trip. Background check required. Edwin Payne 517-780-7400
